Overview

This Government Grants information stream acts as a supplement to the grant settlement information published annually by CLG, providing an evolving record of the main features of the local government funding system for England and Wales.

The information stream provides an overview of the current funding system based on the four block model, with detailed explanations of the calculations for each service area, together with worked examples. It also summarises the main specific grants and other sources of funding, and provides background on the history and ongoing development of the local government funding system.
